I switched from a Canon DSLR to a Sony Mirrorless and I’ll never go back.. I actually tried to use my DSLR as a backup camera and had no idea how to turn it on or stare at the back with no screen. Lol…

With DSLRs you have to take the photo and then see how it looks vs in Mirrorless you’ll see it while taking the photo on the screen. So, you spend less time adjusting settings. The mirrorless also has better auto focus, it’s lighter, and it’s the new standard in photography.

Once you get a body, you can always upgrade your lenses later.

These photos were shot on a Sigma 35 1.4 lens.. but I also use my Canon 24-70L (with an adapter). The 24-70 allows you to zoom in and out between close and wide, but I still prefer to move my body- it comes more natural- just the cuing gets a little harder when you are further away lol.

I shot the video on my CAMP SNAP video camera- it looks super cool and is a good party trick for my longer sessions. As a vibey family photographer this plays into the nostalgic feelings I’m trying to bring back from our own childhood memories.

Along, with the video, I bring my Mini Evo- It’s a mix between a digital camera and a polaroid. Meaning, you don’t HAVE to print the photo or lose it, it will save digitally on the camera and you can print the ones you choose. Each film cartridge has 10 polaroids. I typically take a few and then print on the spot as a take-home gift, or print one later to send as a thank you with their USB.

Sometimes I use it as a prop and sometimes I use it to let the kids take photos of me or their parents.. or their parents use it to take photos of them
