If you’ve been searching for a photographer in NC offering flower field mini sessions, you probably already know you want more than just pretty pictures. You want something that actually feels like your family — a little loud, a little unpredictable, and completely real.
Sitting still and saying “cheese”? That’s not really our thing either.
I host flower field mini sessions in the Charlotte, NC area — in both spring and fall — and the sessions are intentionally small, unhurried, and built around connection. In this post I’m going to walk you through exactly what our time together looks like, how to prep so you’re not scrambling the morning of, and why the moments you’re most nervous about are usually the ones that become your favorite photos.
30 min Mother’s Day Sessions at Blue Hill Garden 4/26 2pm-5pm
**30min sessions or Family Story Sessions at Wise Acres or Blue Hill Garden (both by reservation only)- Email [email protected] to book outside of this date/time
This flower field in Unionville, NC stole my heart this spring and I’m excited to offer them again this spring.

What Makes These Flower Field Sessions Different
Most mini sessions pack as many families as possible into a single morning. You get a time slot, you show up, you hustle through 15 minutes and hope someone was looking. I don’t do it that way.
I keep bookings limited so every family gets good light — not the unflattering noon shadows that nobody wants. I shoot at golden hour and mid-afternoon, and I love a vintage, nostalgic feel. (Fun fact: I shoot with pantyhose over my lens for that dreamy, soft look. Yes, really. It also smooths out skin texture in the most flattering way.)
And I slow things down on purpose. When families feel rushed, stress shows up in the photos. When we have space to breathe, kids open up, mamas relax, and the real stuff happens.

What the Session Actually Looks Like
Here’s what I want you to know: your kids do not need to behave. They need to show up.
I’ll guide you through gentle prompts — things like “put a flower in her hair,” “skip to me,” “go give mommy a hug.” I place everyone according to the light, then let the moment unfold naturally. The silliness, the squirming, the “mom I don’t WANT to” right before the best shot of the day — that’s not a problem. That’s the session.
I get wide shots, close details, laughing and playing, and the quiet snuggly moments too. The more relaxed the session, the more variety in your gallery.
(Also — croissants have been a hit. Just saying.)
Yes, Mama Is IN the Photos
This is a big one for me. These are “mama sessions” for a reason — you are in the photos with your kids. Not just holding the camera. Not just watching.
Next year will look different. They might lose a tooth, get glasses, stop wanting to hold your hand in public. This season of life doesn’t stay. Slowing down to actually document yourself in it — that’s worth every penny.

How to Prep for Your Flower Field Session (So You Can Actually Enjoy It)
Get the family on board early. Show your husband my work. Show your kids. Talk about what it means to you to actually be IN photos with them. Even showing them old photos of yourself as a kid can help frame it. The more buy-in you have going in, the smoother the morning.
Plan outfits as soon as you book. Rushing to pull outfits together is one of the most stressful parts of family photos. Don’t wait. I have style inspo boards you can reference right away, and some sessions include a customized style guide and access to my client closet — you can also add that on to any session.
Pick a time that works with your kids’ rhythms. Nap schedules matter. Hunger matters. Arrive a few minutes early so nobody’s already melting down before we even start. Bring snacks.
Your only job the day of? Show up. I’ll handle the rest.

Spring vs. Fall Flower Field Sessions in NC
Both seasons are beautiful — spring brings that soft, fresh bloom energy and fall brings warmth and golden tones. I offer sessions in both, and I book limited spots each season to protect the quality of light and the experience for every family.
If you’re in Charlotte, Monroe, Indian Trail, Concord, or anywhere in the surrounding area, this is an easy drive and absolutely worth it for the space to roam and be free.

Ready to Book Your Flower Field Mini Session?
Spots are limited each season — and they go fast. If you’ve been on the fence, this is your sign. Your kids won’t remember whether they smiled on command. They’ll remember the flowers, and the fun, and you being there.
