What to expect at the Session
Sessions will be an experience with animals, but wearing cute clothes and having a photographer guide, direct and position kids + families while taking amazing photos. Some photos will be more “posed” while others will be candid. My favorite thing is to “pose” mom and dad and direct the kids into an activity so they don’t feel stiff. I try to start with a smiling shot, but my sessions tend to lean into natural connection and authenticity. There’s no pressure for perfect behavior or forced smiles — the magic comes from curiosity, laughter, and the little in-between moments that parents often miss while they’re living them.
The chickens give children something real to focus on, which means expressions are genuine, movement is natural, and your images feel like memories instead of poses.
And years from now, these images won’t just remind you how everyone looked — they’ll remind you what this season of childhood felt like.

Meet the hens
Here’s a video introducing the hens- thinking this would be a good start to getting kiddos excited about who to meet or hold (I’ll do an instruction on how to do this + be conscious of kids how may not be the best to handle and in this case they’ll just be around or in a basket)
I’m not shy to hosting sessions with animals.. I once rented a petting zoo including an alpaca and a mini cow for photos in my backyard and they are still some of my faves!
FAQ
1. Are the chickens safe for children?
Yes — the silkie hens are extremely gentle and handled regularly around kids.
They’re known for their calm temperament, and interactions are always guided and supervised so children can feel comfortable and confident.
2. What ages are these sessions best for?
These sessions are perfect for babies who can sit independently through early elementary ages, but siblings of all ages are welcome. The experience is designed to feel playful and natural rather than posed.
3. What if my child is shy or doesn’t want to touch the chickens?
That’s completely okay — nothing is forced. Some kids jump right in, while others prefer to watch, explore, or stay close to mom. Beautiful moments happen either way, and I follow your child’s comfort level.
4. What should we wear?
After booking, you’ll receive a spring styling guide with color palettes and outfit inspiration designed to photograph beautifully with the soft farm setting. Think light neutrals, soft textures, and timeless pieces.
5. What happens if the weather doesn’t cooperate?
If weather becomes unsafe or too wet, a backup date or reschedule option will be provided so you still get the full experience without stress.
