When to book your Maternity Session

The best time to schedule your maternity photos are between 28- 34 weeks. You can reserve your session at your leisure online via my self serve booking! Or select it as an add-on to a newborn session to tell the story from bump to baby and receive a discount.

When to book your Newborn Session

Book your newborn session ASAP. It’s honestly never too early to book. I like to have dates on my calendar so I don’t overbook and I send out little goodies as a booking thank-you.

How to Reserve Your Spot

When booking, pick a date the week you are due and then we will adjust once baby is born. So, I just ask you keep me posted! You can book online HERE.

WHAT TO EXPECT

Newborn sessions take place in your home 5-9 days post birth (sometimes later if your baby is under 6lbs or premature or had to be in the NICU, etc)

This is my sweet spot with timing. It is where they still feel like they are in the womb which equals more sleeping during the day and before baby acne comes into play.

I take more of a “lifestyle” approach while still giving direction through prompting and guiding so no double chins. While family photos take on a more documentary style, I also have a heart for posing mom beautifully with her baby.

Photos consist of family, baby and nursery (if you don’t have one, that’s ok too!)

I often show up with fresh sourdough I baked just for you and offer a “me-too” and “I get it” presence because I’m a mom, too and I know what it’s like to have your first baby or a baby and a toddler or a baby and a couple kids.

What Should We Wear?

Warm neutrals are preferred. Colors like creams, browns, blush, gold, etc make the images cozy and inviting. Basically anything but blue and purple.

Feel free to dress up and have a dreamy romantic vibe, or cozy which with knits and waffle textures.

Don’t worry if you still feel lost. I’ll send everything from pinterest inspo to last minute amazon finds, to a customized style guide for you and your family with shoppable links. I want to make this process as easy and as stress-free as possible!

For men, I suggest a neutral/ warm tone/ plain/ solid tee or henley or dress shirt. And for siblings solid light colors or earth tones work best.

I’ll bring my swaddles, onesies, blankets, basket, fresh florals/greenery, etc all cleaned and sanitized. I like to keep newborn props pretty minimal to not overpower the focus of the baby. I also bring a ladder for perspective, a portable heater to keep baby warm and toddler bribes if needed.

How to Prep For an In-home Newborn Session

On the day of our session, please try to feed or top baby off 30 minutes prior to arrival.

Have baby just in a diaper and swaddle so we don’t have to upset them by changing.

Please don’t worry about cleaning every space.

Once I arrive, I will do a quick tour to see which rooms have the best light and then declutter/ shove things out of the frame for a less distracting shot. (This could be nursery, master bedroom, kitchen, living room, porch, etc)

After the Session

I typically post a sneak peek within 24hours. With your session, you’ll receive an online newborn photo gallery, 75-100 images to download, within 3-4 weeks and a USB mailed to your door.

You can purchase any professional prints from your gallery or order a custom album or photobook if you want to check those out.
